Russian Factories in Rostov and Leningrad Regions Targeted by Drones, Causing Major Fires
Major fires erupted at industrial sites in Russia’s Rostov and Leningrad regions, with locals reporting explosions prior to the blazes, according to Russian media outlet ASTRA on January 10.
In the Rostov region, a fire engulfed the PlastFactor factory in the village of Krym.
Acting Governor Yuriy Slyusar stated that the fire followed an alleged drone attack, adding that the blaze was successfully contained.
Meanwhile, in Gatchina, Leningrad region, the Ingria Tech factory, which manufactures panel coatings and paint products, was ablaze too.
Head of the Ukrainian Center for Countering Disinformation, Andrii Kovalenko, reported that “camouflaged military facilities were attacked in the Rostov and Leningrad regions.”
He stated that Russia passes off military plants as civilian ones, trying to hide their real products.
Russia’s Ministry of Emergency Situations reported that the fire spread across 1,900 square meters. A team of 50 firefighters and 12 units of equipment were deployed to extinguish it.
Witnesses noted the sound of explosions before the fire and subsequent detonations as the blaze progressed.
The Russian Ministry of Defense claimed it intercepted 40 drones allegedly launched by Ukraine, including 16 targeting the Rostov region.
Earlier, drones targeted Russia’s largest commercial seaport, Ust-Luga, in the Leningrad region.
