Russian Forces Deploy Military Equipment Near Toretsk and Chasiv Yar, Intensifying Activity in Donetsk Region
The Russian troops reportedly began deploying military equipment near the towns of Toretsk and Chasiv Yar in the Donetsk region.
This was reported by Anastasia Bobovnikova, a spokesperson for the Operational Tactical Group Luhansk, on December 24 during the national telethon.
The spokesperson noted that Russian forces had not previously used military equipment in this area, but it is now being observed on the outskirts of Toretsk, in Nelipivka.
“Over the past 24 hours, there have been battles involving armored fighting vehicles, buggies, and motorcycles. We hadn’t seen this before, but now the enemy has become more active,” Bobovnikova said.
A similar situation unfolded near the town of Chasiv Yar, where Russian troops typically do not use armored fighting vehicles and tanks, according to Bobovnikova, as they are “not very effective in urban areas” and difficult to maneuver.
“For several days now, we have been observing a situation where, across from Chasiv Yar, a tank moves out, fires from concealed positions, and then retreats. Not always, but every day we have a good 'catch.' Recently, the most modern Russian T-90M 'Proryv' tank was destroyed in this area,” she said.
On December 17, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, reported that Russian forces have significantly increased pressure on the Kramatorsk, Toretsk, and Vremivka directions in the Donetsk region.
