Russian FSB Officer Shot in the Head Inside Moscow Defense Ministry Building
The body of Vladimir Feshchenko, reportedly an officer of Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB), was found in a Ministry of Defense building on Olkhovskaya Street, Moscow, on the night of January 13.
According to Russian media Ria Novosti, the building houses various divisions of the Ministry of Defense and the FSB’s Moscow Military District office. Local sources suggest that Feshchenko, a senior lieutenant in the FSB, had brought a former colleague with whom he served in the Russian Far East to his workplace.
Telegram channels such as VChK-OGPU and Baza, which are often cited in relation to Russian security matters, have offered differing accounts. VChK-OGPU described Feshchenko as an FSB counterintelligence officer and confirmed that his body was found at his workplace with a severe head wound.
Meanwhile, Baza reported that Feshchenko was a champion of kettlebell lifting and a master of sport of international class.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspect, identified as Feshchenko’s acquaintance, has been detained and confessed to the killing. Reports suggest that a conflict between the two men escalated, leading to the fatal incident. The injury was reportedly caused by a gunshot.
Law enforcement and investigative teams, including FSB representatives and the Military Investigative Committee, are examining the circumstances surrounding the death. A criminal case has been opened, with the primary theory pointing to an accidental killing during an altercation.
