A Russian Mi-8 helicopter was destroyed in Kharkiv region, according to the operational update from Ukraine's Armed Forces General Staff on October 11.

The General Staff did not provide details regarding the circumstances of the helicopter's destruction.

The Mi-8, a Soviet-era aircraft, is primarily used as a transport vehicle by both the Russian military and civilian government agencies, though it also serves combat and command roles.

The estimated cost of the helicopter ranges from $10 to $15 million.

In its update, the General Staff reported that Russia has lost a total of 329 helicopters since the onset of the full-scale invasion in February 2022.

Previously on October 5, Ukrainian Defense Forces successfully shot down a Russian SU-25 aircraft in the Donetsk region, according to a statement from Serhii Horbunov, the head of the Kostiantynivka Military Administration.
