Russian Troops Reportedly Execute Injured Ukrainian Soldier in Bakhmut Direction

Russian troops reportedly shot a Ukrainian soldier who may have been injured in the Bakhmut direction in Donetsk region.

This was reported by the Donetsk Regional Prosecutor's Office.

According to operational data, the Ukrainian soldier was performing a combat mission in the Bakhmut area and was likely injured. Shortly thereafter, the building he was in was captured by Russian forces, and he was taken prisoner.

The unarmed soldier, lying on the ground, was shot by Russian troops. This reportedly occurred on September 6 around 10 am in the settlement of Niu York.

The Prosecutor's Office stated that the murder of prisoners of war is a serious violation of the Geneva Conventions and is classified as a grave international crime.

Law enforcement has launched a pre-trial investigation into the violation of the laws and customs of war, combined with intentional murder (Part 2, Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

Videos of Russian military forces executing Ukrainian prisoners of war have been repeatedly circulated online. Currently, Ukrainian law enforcement has information about the execution of 102 prisoners of war on the battlefield.
