Russian forces are suspected of having shot dead two captured Ukrainian servicemen on the outskirts of the settlement of Zatyshshia in southern Ukraine, according to a statement by Ukrainian Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets on November 15.
Lubinets said the information about the incident is corroborated by a video circulating on social media. and indicated that the incident took place near Zatyshshia, likely referring to a locality in the Zaporizhzhia region.
He described the case as “another deliberate step by the Russian Federation aimed at intimidation and demonstrative disregard for the norms of international humanitarian law” and stressed that such killings are not isolated but “form a systemic pattern of criminal behavior by the aggressor state.”

The ombudsman underlined that the killing of prisoners of war constitutes a grave violation of international humanitarian law and the Geneva Conventions and is classified as a serious international crime.
He said he had already sent official letters to the International Committee of the Red Cross and the United Nations in connection with the incident, adding that “the international community must immediately respond to such systemic gross violations by Russia.”
Earlier, it was reported that over 150 captured Ukrainian soldiers have been executed by Russian forces since the start of the full-scale invasion, according to Ukrainian intelligence.
