Stripped, Beaten, Thrown in a Pit: Russian Soldiers Punished for Refusing Orders

Russian servicemen in one of the units deployed in southern Ukraine were stripped, beaten, and forced into a pit after refusing to carry out an order, according to InformNapalm on November 18.
InformNapalm published video footage showing four soldiers from the 2nd Battalion of the 247th Air Assault Regiment, which operates on the Zaporizhzhia axis, being lined up by their officers and subjected to what the commanders described as a disciplinary measure.
According to InformNapalm, the soldiers’ refusal to comply with an order reportedly resulted in casualties. In response, officers stripped the men naked, assaulted them, and forced them to crawl into a pit while other servicemen filmed the scene on their phones.
The footage shows the punishment being carried out publicly in front of the unit, which InformNapalm says was intended to pressure other troops into following orders without objections.
InformNapalm, which monitors Russian military activity, stated that the incident reflects a recurring pattern within Russian units deployed in Ukraine. The outlet says such episodes are increasingly documented through leaked videos from within the Russian ranks.
The individuals in the video belong to the 247th Air Assault Regiment, a formation repeatedly engaged in high-risk assaults and defensive operations on the southern front.
InformNapalm reports that commanders used the public punishment to “motivate” compliance with orders involving hazardous missions and poorly fortified positions.
The outlet notes that similar practices have been observed across different Russian units, particularly during periods of heavy assault pressure.
Earlier, it was reported that a Russian commander from the 155th Separate Marine Brigade was caught in a radio intercept ordering the execution of a wounded soldier, saying: “Shoot him… There are no sick in the Marine Corps — only the living and the dead. He has no other options. I order you to shoot him if he doesn’t move.”
