Sweden Pledges €63 Million in Military Aid to Ukraine
The Swedish government announced a new €63 million military aid package to support Ukraine, with €20 million of the funds allocated specifically for purchasing Ukrainian-made defense equipment, according to Swedish Ministry of Defense press release on October 28.
Swedish Defense Material Administration established an agreement with Denmark to manage the €20 million for Ukrainian defense gear procurement.
“Strengthening Ukraine’s production capacity will enable European allies to jointly innovate and increase capabilities for defense equipment manufacturing and maintenance,” the Swedish press office stated.
The remaining €43 million will contribute to multilateral initiatives supporting the Ukrainian Armed Forces, including the Fighter Jet Coalition, Maritime Security Coalition, Demining Coalition, and an IT Coalition.
Additionally, Sweden will contribute to NATO’s Comprehensive Assistance Package (CAP) for Ukraine, which is focused on defense equipment procurement.
Earlier, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy arrived in Iceland on October 28 for his first official working visit to the country, adding that he will participate in the Fourth Ukraine-Nordic Summit and engage in bilateral discussions with the Prime Ministers of Iceland, Denmark, Norway, Finland, and Sweden.
