Swiss Government Launches $125M Support Plan for Ukraine’s Reconstruction and Peace Efforts

Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko held talks in Bern focused on the peace process and Ukraine’s recovery. The discussions highlighted Switzerland’s readiness to support Ukraine both politically and economically as the country continues to resist Russian aggression and prepare for reconstruction.
According to the Swiss government on August 28, the negotiations centered on advancing dialogue around peace efforts and identifying concrete steps to rebuild Ukraine’s war-damaged infrastructure and key sectors. Particular emphasis was placed on cooperation not only at the political level but also through the involvement of Swiss companies in recovery projects.
As a result of the talks, Switzerland announced 12 projects that will be carried out by Swiss businesses with government support. These initiatives will contribute to Ukraine’s recovery in vital areas such as infrastructure, public transport, healthcare, and humanitarian demining. The projects are designed to provide immediate assistance while strengthening the foundations for long-term development.

Among the selected companies are Geberit, which will supply and install sanitary equipment; Divario, which will construct modular housing; and Roche Diagnostics, which will establish a modern medical laboratory. Each project reflects Switzerland’s strategy of combining humanitarian aid with practical investment in Ukraine’s future resilience.
To finance these initiatives, the Swiss government has allocated around $124.7 million. Officials in Bern emphasized that this funding demonstrates Switzerland’s firm commitment to helping Ukraine recover from the destruction caused by Russia’s war and to ensuring that reconstruction efforts deliver tangible results for Ukrainian communities.
Earlier, Switzerland expanded its sanctions against Russia by aligning with the European Union’s 18th sanctions package.
The Federal Department of Economic Affairs, Education and Research enacted the new measures, which impose asset freezes and entry bans on 14 individuals and 41 entities.
