US military forces have destroyed more than 30 Iranian naval vessels since the launch of the current military campaign, according to the commander of US Central Command on March 6.

Admiral Brad Cooper revealed the updated figure during a briefing, explaining that the number has steadily increased as operations targeting Iranian military infrastructure and naval assets have expanded.

“You may have heard the president say just a little while ago that we have sunk or destroyed 24 ships. That was true at the moment. We’re now up over 30 ships,” Cooper said.

The strikes are part of a broader US effort aimed at weakening Tehran’s military capabilities, particularly its ability to conduct naval operations and launch missile or drone attacks across the region.

According to US officials, the campaign has involved coordinated strikes against military facilities, infrastructure, and naval units associated with Iran’s armed forces.

Targets have reportedly included a variety of vessels, ranging from small fast-attack craft to larger warships and logistical support ships. Officials say some of the vessels destroyed were surface combatants, while at least one ship served as a platform for launching unmanned aerial systems.

American commanders say the operations are already producing measurable effects on the battlefield. According to US military officials, the frequency of Iranian missile and drone attacks has declined significantly following sustained strikes on launch sites, infrastructure, and naval platforms.

CENTCOM has not publicly released a detailed list of the ships that have been destroyed. Iranian officials, meanwhile, have challenged some of the US claims regarding the scale of the losses.

Earlier, US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said a US submarine sank an Iranian warship with a torpedo in international waters. The incident marked the first time the US has sunk an enemy vessel with a torpedo since World War II.
