Top Ukrainian Officials Arrive in Paris for High-Stakes Security Talks With US and European Allies

Senior Ukrainian officials have arrived in Paris for high-level meetings with American and European partners to advance discussions on Ukraine’s defense needs and long-term security, Andriy Yermak, Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, wrote on April 17.
Yermak landed in France alongside Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha and Defense Minister Rustem Umerov. The delegation is set to meet with US representatives currently in France and officials from key allies in what is known as the “Coalition of the Willing”—including France, Germany, and the United Kingdom.
“Just landed in Paris. I arrived together with Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha and Defense Minister Rustem Umerov,” Yermak wrote.
“As part of the visit, a series of bilateral and multilateral meetings are planned with representatives of countries from the coalition of those willing and able to guarantee security — particularly France, Germany, and the United Kingdom,” he said.
“Meetings are also scheduled with representatives of the United States who are currently in France. We are working on critical issues for the security of Ukraine and all of Europe.”
Earlier, reports emerged that US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Steve Witkoff, President Donald Trump’s special envoy to the Middle East, were scheduled to visit Paris later this week.
An official familiar with the preparations said the discussions will focus on Ukraine, among other topics.
Witkoff is set to meet with French President Emmanuel Macron, while Rubio will engage with French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot.
