Trump: If Russia Refuses the Deal, It Will Be a Global Disappointment

US President Donald Trump responded to Russian leader Vladimir Putin’s latest remarks, calling them “promising” but incomplete.
“Putin made a very promising statement but it wasn’t complete,” he said. “I would like to see a ceasefire from Russia. We hope that Russia will do the right thing.”
His comments come as discussions on a potential 30-day ceasefire continue, with Ukraine having already agreed to the proposal.
“We’re gonna see whether or not Russia’s there, and if not it’ll be a very disappointing moment for the world,” Trump stated.
He also noted that US envoy Vitkoff is engaged in serious talks in the Russian capital, with signals that discussions are moving in a positive direction. Trump remains hopeful that a clearer picture of the situation will emerge soon, emphasizing the need for Russia to take decisive steps toward ending hostilities.
Earlier, Russian leader Vladimir Putin stated that Moscow would agree to a 30-day ceasefire in Ukraine only if Kyiv guarantees it “will not mobilize, train, or receive weapons” during the truce.
