Russian leader Vladimir Putin has announced that he will hold a phone conversation with US President Donald Trump on July 3.

This was reported by Russian state media outlet RIA Novosti on July 3.

Trump later confirmed the call himself. In a post on Truth Social, he stated that the conversation with Putin is scheduled for 10am eastern time.

Meanwhile, Financial Times reports that Trump also plans to speak with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on July 4. The leaders are expected to discuss the abrupt halt in US weapons deliveries to Ukraine.

According to FT, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha summoned the acting head of the US Embassy, John Ginkel, to the Foreign Ministry on Wednesday to emphasize the critical importance of continued American military support. Sybiha warned that “any delay or hesitation in bolstering Ukraine’s defense capabilities only emboldens the aggressor to persist in its war and acts of terror.”

However, sources cited by Suspilne say that preparations for the potential call between Zelenskyy and Trump began even before the official announcement of the pause in military aid.

According to the source, work on organizing the conversation is ongoing, but its implementation depends on coordinating the schedules of both sides.

Earlier, the US Department of Defense was actively presenting President Donald Trump with various military support options for Ukraine, while reassessing its strategy to ensure alignment with national defense priorities and the operational readiness of American forces.
