US President Donald Trump is scheduled to hold bilateral talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during the upcoming G7 summit in Canada, a US government official confirmed ahead of the summit’s official opening in Kananaskis, ntv reported on June 16.
“President Donald Trump plans to meet with President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy for bilateral talks,” the statement said.
Zelenskyy is expected to attend the summit as a guest on Tuesday, underscoring ongoing Western efforts to maintain international support for Ukraine as it defends itself against Russia’s full-scale invasion.
The White House also confirmed that Trump has a separate bilateral meeting scheduled with Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum.

Trump and Zelenskyy last met face-to-face in late April during the funeral of the late Pope Francis at the Vatican.
Earlier, President Zelenskyy addressed questions about Ukraine’s efforts to purchase US weapons. He said Kyiv prepared a comprehensive procurement package requiring approval at the presidential level and confirmed that Ukraine is in direct talks with American companies and manufacturers on specific weapons systems.
“We have a package that we would like to purchase. A globally strong package that we intend to buy from the American side. We prepared it long ago. It has been reviewed by our side multiple times, with timing, models, and availability changing. As of today, we have such a package. We can only negotiate this package at the level of presidents,” Zelenskyy said.
