Keith Kellogg, the US President’s special envoy for Russia and Ukraine, will visit Germany, Belgium, and Ukraine from February 13 to 22 to advance the American leader’s goal of ending the Russian war against Ukraine and ensuring “peace through strength,” the US State Department announced on February 12.

According to the statement, Kellogg, a top adviser to US President Donald Trump, will also work to uphold US national security interests during his trip.

He is set to attend the Munich Security Conference and visit the headquarters of NATO and the European Union in Brussels, where he will engage with allies and partners “ready to work with the United States to end Russia’s war against Ukraine and restore stability in Europe.”

During his visit to Ukraine, Kellogg is expected to meet with government officials and civilians who “have bravely endured nearly three years of war,” the State Department added.

The US administration reiterated Trump’s position that “the fighting must stop” and that Washington is prepared to support a long-term resolution.

“The president’s special envoy, Kellogg, is committed to tough diplomacy, which will be necessary to achieve the president’s goal,” the statement read.

Kellogg confirmed his departure for Europe, saying he looks forward to meeting with NATO members and other partners working toward ending the war in Ukraine and stabilizing Europe.

“I look forward to productive meetings so we can move quickly,” he said.

Earlier, reports emerged that the US administration planned to discuss a proposal to increase European purchases of American weapons for Ukraine during the Munich Security Conference.
