The US administration plans to discuss a proposal to increase European purchases of American weapons for Ukraine during the Munich Security Conference, Reuters reported on February 11, citing sources.

President Donald Trump’s administration aims to push European allies to step up their procurement of US arms for Ukraine, a move that could strengthen Kyiv’s position in potential peace talks with Russia, according to two informed sources.

US officials, including Trump’s special envoy for Russia and Ukraine, Keith Kellogg, are expected to discuss the plan with European representatives at the Munich Security Conference, scheduled for February 14-16. According to sources, this is one of several options under consideration to continue supplying weapons to Ukraine without significant US financial commitments.

In an interview with Reuters on February 10, Kellogg declined to confirm the plan but emphasized that the US always seeks to sell domestically produced weapons as it benefits the economy. "There are a lot of options out there. Everything is in play right now," he added.

Kellogg also noted that Ukraine continues to receive arms shipments previously approved under Trump’s predecessor, Joe Biden.

Previously, it was reported that Donald Trump’s administration has put its Ukraine peace plan on hold to allow greater European involvement in negotiations, according to The Telegraph on February 10.
