Trump’s Remarks on Crimea “Fully Align” With Russia’s Position, Peskov Says

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov has endorsed recent statements made by US President Donald Trump regarding the status of Crimea, asserting that they “fully align with Russia’s position.”
Speaking during a press briefing on April 24, Peskov emphasized that Trump’s claim that Ukraine lost Crimea “many years ago,” is consistent with Moscow’s long-held narrative, according to Russian state media.
“Trump’s statement that Ukraine lost Crimea many years ago fully corresponds with Moscow’s understanding,” the Russian spokesman said.
Peskov also stated that the Russian Federation remains in contact with the United States on matters concerning the ongoing war in Ukraine. However, he acknowledged what he described as “certain discrepancies” in the approaches to the negotiation process between Washington, Kyiv, and key European capitals.
When asked about reported elements of a potential peace proposal, Peskov declined to comment, asserting that the Kremlin does not respond to speculation or unverified reports.
Earlier, Russian government spokesperson Dmitry Peskov stated that the war against Ukraine could end “immediately” if Ukrainian forces were to withdraw from the four regions that Russia claims to have annexed and incorporated into its constitution.
