Turkey’s Baykar, Maker of Ukraine’s Iconic Bayraktar Drones, to Build Factory in Indonesia

Turkish drone manufacturer Baykar has entered into a joint venture agreement with Indonesia's defense company Republikorp to set up a state-of-the-art UAV manufacturing facility in Indonesia.
This was announced by ULU Savunma on February 12.
The agreement was one of several signed during President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's visit to Indonesia, aimed at bolstering economic and defense cooperation between the two Muslim-majority nations.
The partnership seeks to strengthen Indonesia’s manufacturing capabilities and includes the co-production of Bayraktar TB3 and Akıncı drones, which Baykar will also export to the country, according to reports.

Baykar gained international recognition for its Bayraktar drones, which have played a significant role in Ukraine’s defense since Russia’s full-scale invasion in 2022. The Bayraktar TB2 drones were used to target Russian convoys, artillery, and supply lines, proving particularly effective in the early months of the war. They also contributed to Ukraine’s naval defense, including a strike on Russia’s “Moskva” warship.
The company has since strengthened its ties with Ukraine by sourcing key drone components from Ukrainian manufacturers and announcing plans to build a UAV production facility in the country.
