UK Confirms Readiness to Deploy Troops to Ukraine Under “Coalition of the Willing” Plan

The United Kingdom is prepared to send troops to Ukraine to help enforce a potential ceasefire with Russia, as part of a new international initiative dubbed the “Coalition of the Willing.”
UK Defense Secretary John Healey confirmed the country’s readiness during a recent statement, according to Express.co.uk on July 10.
“The prime minister has always been clear that he’s ready to put troops into Ukraine to help reinforce a ceasefire,” Healey said.
France and the United Kingdom are expected to provide the backbone of the international military contingent. However, successful implementation of the plan also hinges on support from the United States Express.co.uk reported.

Previous reports suggested that London had paused plans to send peacekeepers due to a lack of backing from former US President Donald Trump. However, Healey’s comments signal that the idea remains very much on the table.
As part of a broader effort to bolster European security, the UK and France are moving to establish a joint rapid response force of 50,000 troops.
According to Healey, the UK-France summit underway on July 10 will also focus on strategies to deter “extreme threats” facing Europe.
“We’re close on military co-operation, so we’ll be announcing new co-ordination on nuclear co-operation, on research, on exercising, (and) on testing and co-ordinating our deterrence in the face of extreme threats that our countries in Europe may face,” Defense Secretary concluded.
Earlier, it was reported that at a bilateral meeting in London, the UK’s Secretary of State for Defense and France’s Minister of the Armed Forces unveiled a new framework to align their submarine‑based and air‑launched nuclear capabilities, sharing early‑warning data and conducting combined exercises to strengthen NATO’s strategic deterrence posture.
