UK Intelligence Exposes Healthcare Failures in Russian Military With Half a Million Wounded
The Russian military continues to face severe challenges in providing medical assistance at all levels, with the situation expected to persist through the winter.
According to a report from the UK Ministry of Defense, shared via X (Twitter), independent Russian outlet Astra News reported on November 14 that dozens of wounded Russian soldiers staged a protest in Novosibirsk over inadequate medical care.
The soldiers, part of the 41st Combined Arms Army of the Central Military District, reportedly expressed grievances about mistreatment by their commander and refused to return to the frontlines without sufficient medical support. Reports indicate the protest involved property damage, including broken windows and damaged barracks, while ten soldiers left the premises.
The UK intelligence report noted that logistical constraints, such as a lack of armored vehicles and the threat of drones, are causing significant delays in evacuating injured personnel. “These delays almost certainly increase the likelihood of more severe injuries and higher mortality rates among those eventually evacuated through the medical system,” the report stated.
As per the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the estimated total combat losses of Russian forces from February 24, 2022, to November 26, 2024, include approximately 733,830 personnel, of which 1,480 were recorded within the past day. Equipment losses during the same period include 9,435 tanks, 19,256 armored vehicles, 20,806 artillery systems, and 19,552 tactical UAVs.
