Great Britain allocated Ukraine 3.5 billion pounds sterling (about $4.5 billion) for the purchase of current military equipment from British manufacturers. However, these funds cannot be spent at once.

This was reported on the British government website.

A UK trade mission, formed of representatives from the Ministry of Defence, the Department for Business and Trade, and the defence trade association ADS, visited Ukraine to hold meetings with the Ukrainian Government and industry representatives.

This mission is a continuation of the agreement signed in July 2024, which will allow Ukraine to spend 3.5 billion pounds on the purchase of modern military equipment from Britain.

During the event, Ukrainian officials outlined their requirements for complex weapons and land systems, signaling to UK industry the types of equipment they urgently need. As a result, the UK Ministry of Defence will now contract with UK companies on behalf of Ukraine to provide these specific systems.

“The UK’s support for Ukraine is ironclad. We continue to lead the way in providing military aid, but our support is much broader than simply providing equipment. Our flourishing defence industrial relationship symbolises the work happening across Government and the private sector to ramp up and speed up our support,” said the UK Minister for the Armed Forces, Luke Pollard.

The UK Ministry of Defence has already placed contracts with Thales for air defense missiles and Sheffield Forgemasters for artillery gun barrel forgings to prepare the industry for future orders. These upcoming contracts, funded by Ukraine’s own reserves and the £3.5 billion in UK export finance, aim to further support Ukraine’s war efforts.
