Ukraine Conducts First Motorcycle Breakthrough Operation on Russian Soil

The motorcycle unit of Ukraine’s 425th Separate Assault Regiment “Skala” executed a night raid and breached Russian border defenses near Sudzhansky District in Kursk region, capturing forward positions before exfiltrating without Ukrainian casualties, as reported on May 22 by Militarnyi.
The detachment, which can conduct precision raids up to 10 km into Russian territory, seized two dug-in observation posts and disrupted Russian communications, temporarily undermining Russian control of the border zone.
Operators then navigated anti-tank “dragon’s teeth” obstacles on high-speed motorcycles, relying on night-vision optics to avoid Russian patrols.
Lt. Col. Pavlo Shamshyn noted that “our intelligence records the fact that assault operations of spring–summer 2025 will be carried out on motorcycles.”
Earlier, it was reported that Ukraine’s 425th Separate Assault Regiment “Skala” formed the first motorcycle assault company, training fighters with hundreds of hours behind handlebars and firing on the move in paired swarms.
