The Ukrainian company SKIFTECH, known for its tactical laser-based simulators, has introduced a new drone simulator featuring ammunition drop capabilities based on the Mavic drone platform.

According to Militarnyi on May 20, the simulator is designed to train drone operators and infantry soldiers simultaneously. Using specialized sensors, operators practice precision drops of conventional ammunition, while infantry personnel hone their skills in neutralizing drones with small arms fire.

To simulate infantry impact, the system employs grenade models equipped with laser emitters that mimic fragment dispersion. When a drone is successfully hit, the operator experiences a simulated loss of video feed and control, reflecting the destruction of the device.

Beyond technical training, the simulator serves a psychological function by demonstrating to soldiers that drones can be effectively countered, thereby boosting combat confidence.

SKIFTECH has already secured pre-orders and plans to commence mass production of the simulator within the coming months. The company also intends to develop similar simulators based on FPV and anti-aircraft drones.

SKIFTECH holds the distinction of being the first Ukrainian MilTech representative awarded a contract by the US Army for the development of laser training simulators. Its products are currently in active use by the Ukrainian Armed Forces of Ukraine and the National Guard.

Additionally, SKIFTECH has developed software that analyzes military personnel’s performance during training exercises. This tool provides detailed assessments of individual soldier behavior, identifying areas of strength and weakness to enhance training effectiveness.

Earlier, Ukroboronprom, Ukraine’s Defense Industry Joint Stock Company, signed a memorandum of cooperation with KNDS Belgium SA to enable joint procurement of medium-caliber ammunition.
