Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced on January 3 that Russian forces had targeted Ukrainian cities and towns with over 300 drones and 20 missiles, including ballistic ones, in the first three days of 2025.

While many were intercepted or neutralized using electronic warfare systems, some strikes caused damage, resulting in injuries and loss of life.

“My condolences go out to the families and loved ones of those who lost their lives,” Zelenskyy said.

He emphasized the ongoing threat of daily attacks with guided aerial bombs and stressed the need for enhancing Ukraine’s air defense capabilities.

“We must consistently replenish the stock of anti-missile ammunition for air defense. We must continuously increase the capabilities of mobile fire groups,” Zelenskyy stated.

The President expressed gratitude to international partners for their ongoing support in bolstering Ukraine’s defenses and reiterated the importance of continued collaboration.

Looking ahead, Zelenskyy shared that preparations are underway for meetings and discussions next week aimed at further strengthening Ukraine’s air shield.

“The schedule for these talks has already been preliminarily agreed upon,” he confirmed.

Earlier, Russia launched a drone attack on Kyiv, causing widespread damage and leaving two people dead and seven injured, including two pregnant women.

On January 3, Russia launched a triple missile strike on a residential area on the outskirts of Chernihiv, destroying two private homes, killing one person, and injuring four.
