Ukrainian special forces have destroyed a Russian Buk-M3 surface-to-air missile system in occupied Zaporizhzhia region, according to the Main Intelligence Directorate (HUR) of Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense on September 14.

HUR reported via its official Telegram channel that reconnaissance units identified and successfully struck the 9K317M Buk-M3 system near the settlement of Oleksandrivka, on territory temporarily controlled by Russian forces.

The Buk-M3 is among Russia’s most modern medium-range air defense systems, capable of intercepting aerial targets at distances of up to 70 kilometers. Each system is valued between $40 and $50 million.

Earlier, on September 10, HUR reported disabling a Russian Project MPSV07 multi-purpose support vessel near Novorossiysk. The ship, valued at around $60 million, was one of only four of its class in Russia’s fleet.

According to HUR, the strike with a domestically produced FPV drone damaged the vessel’s bridge and destroyed its electronic warfare equipment, leaving it disabled and in need of extensive repairs.

The MPSV07-class ships are fitted with advanced sonar, remotely operated underwater vehicles, and reconnaissance gear. Analysts note that such vessels are capable of both intelligence gathering and sabotage operations in the Black Sea, making the loss strategically significant for Russia’s remaining naval presence.
