Ukraine Knocks Out Key Russian Radar Systems in Crimea, Creating “Blind Corridors,” Video

Ukrainian military intelligence says its drone operators have struck two advanced Russian radar systems in occupied Crimea, dealing another blow to Moscow’s air defense network. The Defense Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine (HUR) released footage showing strikes on the Nebo-M and Podlet-K1 radars on September 5.
According to HUR, the Nebo-M was hit while being repositioned, with a Ukrainian drone targeting the vehicle carrying its folded antenna.
The Podlet radar required two suicide drones: the first missed due to maneuvering difficulties, but the second struck the system’s phased-array antenna.
Unlike individual missile batteries, both radars are key surveillance assets in Russia’s multi-layered air defense structure, feeding target data to command centers and missile units.

The Podlet is designed to detect low-flying targets, including cruise missiles and drones, using an extendable mast to expand radar coverage beyond the horizon. Although officially rated for a range of 300 kilometers, Ukrainian officials say its effective range is much shorter.
The Nebo-M, by contrast, is a high-end radar system operating across multiple frequency bands, capable of detecting stealth aircraft and high-altitude targets at distances up to 1,800 kilometers.

Ukrainian military analysts from Militarnyi outlet note that the loss of both systems will fragment Russia’s radar coverage in Crimea, breaking a seamless detection network into isolated clusters of missile batteries.
“That creates blind corridors for Ukrainian strikes,” HUR stated.
Earlier, HUR released footage showing a special operations raid in the Black Sea that destroyed Russian equipment. According to the footage and HUR’s statement, the raid eliminated a BL-680 high-speed assault boat, a “Harpoon-B” radar station, and a “Groza” electronic warfare system.
