Ukraine Insists on Ceasefire Before Any Peace Negotiations Amid Russia’s Continued Aggression

No decisions “on the path to peace” can be made without Ukraine’s participation, and any negotiations can only be effective after a ceasefire is in place, Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said in a statement on social media platform X on August 15.
Sybiha emphasized that Ukraine and its partners maintain a principled and unwavering position: “No one wants peace more than Ukrainians. No one wants peace more than Europeans.”
He underscored that Russia’s objective remains to continue its war. “Russia prefers to build new walls on our path to a just and lasting peace. It wants to seal away our freedom,” he said.
🇺🇦 The stance of Ukraine and our partners on the path to peace is principle and clear: it cannot be defined without Ukraine, and negotiations can only be productive after a ceasefire is achieved.

The minister added that “the transatlantic unity of democracies is stronger than Russian imperialism,” noting that “it is through our shared transatlantic strength that we can achieve a dignified peace built on reliable security.”
Meanwhile, hundreds of demonstrators gathered in the streets of Anchorage to protest the planned meeting between US President Donald Trump and Russian leader Vladimir Putin, scheduled to take place in the city.
Organized by a coalition of progressive groups, the protest featured Ukrainian flags, homemade signs, and even a marching band, with participants voicing opposition to any deal perceived as undermining Ukraine’s sovereignty or territorial integrity.
Earlier, it was reported that US President Donald Trump is preparing to propose a package of economic incentives to Russian President Vladimir Putin in a bid to end the war in Ukraine.
