Ukraine Launches First All-Female UAV Unit
Ukraine has launched recruitment for the country’s first all-women unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) unit.
The unit will operate in close collaboration with the Ukrainian Armed Forces, utilizing UAVs for a variety of missions, including reconnaissance, surveillance, and targeting.
The selection process for the unit will be rigorous and competitive, ensuring that only the most qualified and capable candidates are chosen. Applicants will undergo a series of assessments to evaluate their technical aptitude, physical fitness, and ability to perform combat tasks. Those who successfully pass the initial screening will then proceed to extensive training, covering both theoretical and practical aspects of UAV operation.
Women aged 18 and above are encouraged to apply for positions within the volunteer unit. Preference will be given to applicants with prior knowledge and experience in piloting, operating, maintaining, and servicing unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) or similar systems.
The formation of the all-women UAV unit is a significant step towards fostering gender equality within the Ukrainian military. Moreover, the unit’s deployment is expected to enhance Ukraine’s military capabilities, particularly in the realm of unmanned aerial warfare. It has been proven that UAVs have become increasingly crucial in modern warfare, providing valuable intelligence and support to troops on the ground.
Earlier this year, Hanna Hvozdiar, Deputy Minister for Strategic Industries of Ukraine, has stated that Ukrainian drone manufacturers can already produce up to 150,000 units per month, and by the end of the year, Ukraine may have a total of 2 million drones.
