Ukraine Plans 4,000 km Anti-Drone “Net Corridors” to Protect Frontline Logistics Routes

Ukraine plans to install an additional 4,000 kilometers (2,485 miles) of anti-drone netting over roads in frontline and border areas by the end of 2026.
This was stated by Ukraine’s Defense Ministry on February 25.
The ministry explained that the covered sections are meant to protect logistics routes and everyday traffic for communities close to the fighting, as Russian forces increasingly use drones to strike vehicles, emergency responders, and repair crews.

According to the ministry, the pace of installation rose from about 5 kilometers per day in January to 12 kilometers per day in February, with a target of 20 kilometers per day in March.
Ukraine’s government allocated an additional $37 million for the effort, the ministry said, adding that fortification work was also being accelerated in the Kharkiv, Sumy, and Chernihiv regions.

The effectiveness of the netting has been highlighted in short videos shared by open-source accounts tracking the war.
Footage described as showing a Ukrainian supply road to Pokrovsk included several Russian FPV drones caught in an anti-drone net at an entrance road.

The road netting reflects how drone warfare has widened “kill zones” across much of the front, with Ukrainian soldiers and analysts describing large areas where movement in open terrain and on exposed roads can quickly draw attacks from FPV drones.
At the same time, it was reported that fishers in France sent decommissioned nets to Ukraine to be reworked into barriers and road coverings meant to snag and disable drones.
