Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has enacted a new set of personal and economic sanctions targeting companies involved in supplying components used in Russian military drones, including firms based in China on July 8.

The move follows a July 8 decision by Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council (NSDC), which approved sanctions proposed by the Security Service of Ukraine. The decree, signed the same day by President Zelenskyy, took effect immediately upon publication.

The NSDC resolution imposes special economic and other restrictive measures on a number of legal entities. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been instructed to inform the European Union, the United States, and other partners of the decision and to advocate for parallel measures against the same targets.

Sanctions Commissioner Vladyslav Vlasiuk cited a July 4 Russian drone attack on Kyiv as the direct reason for the decision.

“During the mass missile and drone attack on Kyiv on the night of July 4, components of Chinese origin were discovered in the downed Shahed drones,” Commissioner stated.

“Today, sanctions have been imposed on the companies responsible for supplying these parts,” Vlasiuk added.

Among the newly sanctioned firms are Ningbo BLIN Machinery Co., Ltd. and Suzhou ECOD Precision Manufacturing, both of which supplied products to Russian entities already under international sanctions during 2024 and 2025.

Vlasiuk added that Ukraine is working closely with partners in the international sanctions coalition to encourage further restrictions against Chinese manufacturers supporting Russia’s defense industry.

This latest round of sanctions reflects Ukraine’s efforts to disrupt global supply chains feeding into Russia’s war machine and to pressure third-country suppliers assisting Moscow in bypassing existing restrictions.

Earlier, Intelligence report stated that Chinese components dominate russian drones used against Ukraine.
