Ukraine Secures Return of 757 Soldier’s Remains

As part of ongoing repatriation efforts, Ukraine returned the bodies of 757 fallen defenders on February 14, Among them were soldiers recovered from morgues in Russia. This process was carried out through the coordinated efforts of multiple agencies, including the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of POW’s.

The International Committee of the Red Cross provided assistance in facilitating the repatriation.

Personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are responsible for transporting the repatriated remains to designated state institutions, ensuring their transfer to representatives of law enforcement agencies under the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and coordinating forensic medical examinations within the Ministry of Health.

Investigators, in collaboration with expert institutions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, will work to establish the identities of the deceased as efficiently as possible.

On February 5, Ukraine secured the release of 150 citizens from Russian captivity, including soldiers, sergeants, officers, National Guard members, border guards, territorial defense personnel, and one police officer.
