Ukraine Signs Defense Cooperation Memorandum With European Industry Group at EU Forum

Ukrainian officials and the Aerospace, Security and Defence Industries Association of Europe (ASD) signed a memorandum to enhance defense industry cooperation during the second EU-Ukraine Defense Industry Forum, held in Brussels on May 12.
The agreement was signed by Ukraine’s Minister for Strategic Industries, Herman Smetanin, and Jan Pie, Secretary General of ASD.
According to the statement, the Memorandum of Understanding is aimed at promoting cooperation between Ukrainian defense companies and ASD members, and supporting Ukraine’s participation in EU industrial consortia under programs such as the European Defence Fund and Horizon Europe.
“The purpose of the Memorandum is to jointly promote the common interests of Ukrainian industry and ASD members,” the press release stated.
As part of the agreement, ASD announced the launch of its online B2B platform, ASD Connect, which is intended to facilitate business contacts between Ukrainian and other European defense companies.
The memorandum will remain in effect for three years, with the option for renewal.
Earlier, German government spokesman Stefan Cornelius stated that Berlin will continue military assistance to Ukraine but will withhold details on specific weapons systems.
