On March 27, Ukraine’s Air Force conducted a precision airstrike on the Pogar border checkpoint in Russia’s Bryansk region, according to a statement by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on March 28.

The checkpoint, located near the village of Sluchovsk close to Ukraine’s Chernihiv Oblast, was reportedly used as a launch site for Russian drone attacks targeting Ukrainian territory.

The strike destroyed key military infrastructure, including communication equipment, electronic warfare systems, and surveillance technology. According to preliminary estimates, between 15 and 40 Russian servicemen were killed.

The General Staff reported the checkpoint had been used repeatedly to launch drones toward Ukrainian regions, including Sumy and areas in the direction of Kursk. Its destruction is expected to reduce Russia’s operational capacity in those areas.

“This airstrike was a response to the ongoing use of UAVs launched from the Pogar area against civilian infrastructure and population centers in Ukraine,” the General Staff said.

The strike followed continued drone attacks on Ukrainian cities, which have resulted in civilian casualties and damaged residential areas. Despite a partial agreement between Ukraine and Russia on limiting strikes on energy and naval infrastructure as of March 25, Russia has continued launching drones on a daily basis.

Earlier, Russia launched Shahed drone strikes on Ukraine’s Odesa and Poltava regions, damaging civilian and energy infrastructure. Fires broke out at multiple sites, including residential buildings and industrial zones.

One person was injured in Odesa, while in Poltava, warehouses and a transformer facility were hit. Ukrainian officials reported that some drones were intercepted, but debris caused additional destruction. The attacks came despite recent agreements to limit strikes on energy infrastructure.
