Ukraine Successfully Tests New Self-Made Ballistic Missile, Says Zelenskyy
During the ongoing war, Ukraine has built a new defense industry capable of significant advancements in the global arms market. This was highlighted by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during his address at the Second International Defense Industries Forum in Kyiv.
Zelenskyy emphasized that Ukraine’s defense sector has achieved a major milestone with the successful flight tests of a new self-made ballistic missile. This missile joins an array of advanced Ukrainian-made defense technologies, positioning the country as a key player in the global security landscape.
“In the first half of 2024 alone, Ukraine produced 25 times more artillery and mortar ammunition than in the entirety of 2022. Our capabilities continue to grow, including the production of four million drones annually, with 1.5 million already contracted,” Zelenskyy stated.
The President also highlighted the ongoing deployment of Ukraine’s long-range missile-drone, known as “Palianytsia,” alongside the operational success of the “Neptune” missiles and the production of at least 15 “Bohdana” artillery systems each month.
Ukraine has expanded its defense capabilities further by establishing a new repair base for military equipment. In June, the first locally repaired “Marder” infantry fighting vehicle was completed. The country continues to develop the infrastructure necessary to maintain essential military hardware, including “Bradley” vehicles.
Zelenskyy noted that the progress in Ukraine’s defense industry is bolstered by growing international support. Each meeting with global partners brings increased investment, access to new technologies, and enhanced production capabilities.
The forum, he said, would facilitate the signing of further agreements and cooperation between Ukraine and international defense companies. These partnerships will support the localization of production in Ukraine, contributing to the country’s defense readiness and global stability.
“Ukraine is committed to using these new capabilities to strengthen global security. A free and strong Ukraine makes the world safer,” Zelenskyy concluded.
