Ukraine is set to launch an energy-focused “Ramstein” meeting to coordinate international support for its embattled power sector, Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha announced on January 15 via Facebook.
In response to the severe damage caused by sustained Russian missile strikes on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, Kyiv is ramping up its appeal for international aid.
Sybiha stated that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), in cooperation with the Ministry of Energy, is convening the energy “Ramstein” to secure new bilateral aid packages and concrete commitments from Ukraine’s allies.
“Given the critical situation in our energy system, we are intensifying diplomatic efforts to mobilize additional contributions to strengthen our power resilience,” Sybiha said. “We expect new energy support packages to be announced soon—possibly as early as tomorrow.”

Acting on a directive from Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko, the Ukrainian government aims to transform the upcoming energy Ramstein-format meeting into a high-level platform for donor engagement, particularly in delivering essential equipment to regions hardest hit by Russian aggression.
Ukraine is also working closely with the European Energy Community to bolster the Ukraine Energy Support Fund, enabling the purchase of emergency infrastructure and supplies.
Additionally, the government is leveraging mechanisms such as the EU Civil Protection Mechanism, the Energy Charter, and partnerships with international organizations to further expand support.

“All Ukrainian embassies and diplomatic missions have been instructed to mobilize donor assistance, especially targeted aid to the most affected regions and communities — including energy equipment,” Sybiha added.
The original “Ramstein” format was established in 2022 as a defense coordination group supporting Ukraine. It now includes over 50 nations. The next full defense-format Ramstein summit is scheduled for February 2026.
Earlier, it was reported that Kyiv is facing an extremely difficult situation, unprecedented in scale over four years of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, as the capital struggles to restore heating and electricity after recent Russian mass attacks on infrastructure.
