Ukraine to Launch Joint Defense Production Projects in Denmark Under New EU-Backed Agreement

Ukrainian defense companies will begin new joint production projects on Danish soil, defense minister Denys Shmyhal announced on October 6.
“This is set out in a Memorandum of Understanding that I signed today together with our Danish colleagues—Minister of Defense Troels Lund Poulsen, Minister for Industry, Business and Financial Affairs Morten Bødskov, and Minister of Foreign Affairs Lars Løkke Rasmussen,” Shmyhal said.
The memorandum outlines plans for Ukrainian defense companies to establish production in Denmark, create joint facilities, exchange technology, and secure EU financing for collaborative projects.

Shmyhal described the agreement as a significant step toward building a new European security framework and strengthening the defense-industrial capabilities of both nations.
“During the war, jointly produced equipment will support the Defense Forces of Ukraine. In the long term, Ukrainian solutions and experience in security will also enhance the defense capabilities of our allies,” he added.
Previously, Denmark’s Defense Intelligence Service reported increased Russian gray-zone activity in the Danish straits, a strategic maritime passage connecting the Baltic Sea to NATO waters.
