Ukraine Unveils First-of-Its-Kind Combat Patrol Boat for Black Sea Ops, Video

Ukraine’s Main Directorate of Intelligence (HUR) said it had received a newly developed specialized sea boat purchased and delivered by the Diana Podolyanchuk Charitable Foundation, according to the agency statement on January 1. 

The agency said the boat is intended to provide fire cover and support for its maritime operations, describing it as the first such development in Ukraine and as having few counterparts on the global market.

It said the craft has a modular weapons layout that can be fitted with heavy machine guns and grenade launchers. 

Ukraine’s military intelligence agency said the boat’s sides and wheelhouse have anti-fragment and bullet protection, with each firing position equipped with its own armor shield, and that it carries modern navigation, communications, and control systems for use in any conditions.

It added that the hull design and engines allow operations across the Black Sea, including in areas where opposing forces do not expect it. 

The agency said the boat can carry up to two metric tons of payload and is among the largest in its arsenal, with a length of more than 10 meters, a width of 3.6 meters and a draft of 0.7 meters.

Earlier, it was reported that a Ukrainian charity drive delivered a high-speed multipurpose T12 boat to Ukraine’s military intelligence for combat missions, special operations, and medical evacuation support.
