The mission was carried out without losses on the Ukrainian side. Following the operation, Ukrainian forces raised the national flag over the captured position.
The HUR noted that the success of the operation was supported by partners and donors contributing to the “Boats for HUR” initiative, a project implemented by the charitable foundation of Diana Podolianchuk.
The new watercraft provided through this initiative are enhancing the operational reach of Ukrainian special forces.
Earlier on May 2, Ukraine’s Defense Intelligence successfully downed two Russian Su-30SM fighter jets over the Black Sea using AIM-9 Sidewinder missiles launched from modified Magura V7 sea drones.
According to intelligence chief Kyrylo Budanov, the strike marked the first known instance of unmanned surface vessels shooting down manned aircraft with air-to-air missiles.
The operation, carried out in cooperation with the Security Service and the Armed Forces, targeted Russian aircraft believed to be patrolling near Novorossiysk. One crew reportedly survived after ejecting, while the second was killed.
