The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has confirmed it recently destroyed a Russian radar installation located on a Ukrainian gas extraction platform in the Black Sea. The operation, conducted with both maritime and aerial drones, targeted military equipment illegally placed by occupying forces.

According to a statement published on Telegram on May 19, the SBU continues to design and execute special operations aimed at clearing the Black Sea of Russian forces, military assets, and surveillance infrastructure.

The operation was carried out by officers from the 13th Directorate of the SBU’s Military Counterintelligence Department. It involved a two-phase drone strike: an aerial drone first hit the platform, followed by a maritime drone strike that completed the mission.

As a result, the Russian "Neva" radar system—used to monitor air and sea activity—was destroyed, along with warehouse facilities and living quarters on the rig.

"This special operation demonstrated the effectiveness of dual-drone tactics. We’ve once again reminded the enemy that Russian junk has no place in the Black Sea," the SBU stated.

The agency also highlighted that its fleet of maritime drones has previously struck the Crimean Bridge and 11 Russian military vessels—actions that significantly weakened Russia’s dominance in the Black Sea and helped restore the grain corridor.

Earlier, operators from Ukraine’s Special Operations Forces, specifically the Bombus Balista unit, reported a successful strike on a Russian Ka-52 “Alligator” attack helicopter using an FPV drone.
