Ukraine Unveils Novator-2 Krechet: Mobile Command Hub That Can Track 250 Targets at Once

Ukrainian company Ukrainian Armor has presented a new command-and-control vehicle designed to improve battlefield coordination of air defense forces, defense outlet Militarnyi reported on September 2 from the MSPO international defense exhibition in Poland.
The system, built on the Novator 2 armored vehicle platform, serves as a mobile command post for managing air defense operations at the tactical level. Its purpose is to link together surface-to-air missile systems, mobile fire groups, and reconnaissance assets into a single, coordinated network.

At the heart of the vehicle is the Krechet integrated command system—a tactical air defense control module developed to automate decision-making and enhance situational awareness.
According to Militarnyi, the Krechet system can integrate up to five digital radars, 10 mobile fire units, and four night-detection systems. It is capable of automatically distributing targets and managing up to 10 engagement channels simultaneously.

Inside the vehicle, there are operator stations for three personnel and advanced monitoring equipment, which allows tracking up to 250 aerial targets within a 300-kilometer radius.
Developers told Militarnyi that the system has been integrated with the radar and air defense platforms currently used by Ukrainian forces, enabling seamless battlefield coordination. The mobile post can be fully deployed in 10 minutes and sustain 24-hour autonomous operation.

“The idea for this vehicle traditionally came from direct communication with our troops. In today’s conditions, with the constant threat of massive missile and drone strikes, the mission of the Novator 2 with Krechet is to increase both the effectiveness and the survivability of our air defense units,” said Vladyslav Belbas, CEO of Ukrainian Armor.
The command vehicle retains the high mobility and protection levels of the original Novator armored car, which meets STANAG 4569 Level 1 standards, ensuring resistance to 7.62 mm small arms fire.
It is also equipped with enhanced mine protection, capable of withstanding explosions equivalent to a 6-kilogram TNT charge under the wheel or hull.
Earlier, Ukrainian defense firm UKR ARMO TECH unveiled two of its latest armored vehicles—the UAT.GYURZA-02 and the UAT-TISA—at the IDEF 2025 international defense expo in Istanbul.
