Ukraine Unveils Sirko-S1 Ground Drone With Rocket-Propelled TROPIYA Demining System

Ukraine has unveiled a new ground drone, Sirko-S1, equipped with the TROPIYA remote demining system. This platform is designed to clear minefields from a distance and open safe corridors for infantry and vehicles, according to the SkyLab team, which described the system on Army FM on November 28.

TROPIYA was built on the Sirko-S1 chassis. Sirko-S1 weighs 80 kg and is normally used to deliver ammunition, supplies, and equipment into areas too dangerous for humans.

The drone can carry a 130-kg working load and up to 200 kg at maximum capacity. This load capability allowed engineers to configure the vehicle to carry the full TROPIYA demining module.

According to SkyLab, the system enables remote mine clearance without exposing personnel to risk. Ammunition and training kits are supplied together with the platform.

A launch rail for a small rocket booster is mounted at the rear of the vehicle. When fired, the rocket pulls a demining charge out to a distance of 100–150 meters.

A parachute slows the charge’s cable so it stretches the full length of the mined area. Once in position, the charge detonates, neutralizing the mines and creating a lane for troops or vehicles.

The demining charge consists of a long explosive-filled casing with a detonating cord running through its center.

Earlier, a Ukrainian ground-based robotic platform armed with a heavy machine gun engaged a Russian armored vehicle at point-blank range during a field test near the front line.
