Ukrainian troops have eliminated a Russian military intelligence (GRU) unit operating near the city of Myrnohrad in the Donetsk region, according to an update from Ukraine’s 7th Rapid Response Corps on November 18.
The Russian unit, believed to be part of a second-echelon force following diversionary groups, was reportedly tasked with ensuring the advance of frontline troops.

“Our defenders are noting an increase in Russian infiltration attempts toward Myrnohrad, particularly from the Krasnyi Lyman direction,” the unit stated. “Enemy forces are being destroyed as they approach the city.”
Elsewhere in the Pokrovsk urban area, Ukrainian forces reported a surge in small arms engagements and rising Russian losses due to direct fire. Since the start of November, at least 314 Russian soldiers have been killed in Pokrovsk, with another 71 wounded, according to Ukrainian figures.
There were also sightings of Russian infantry attempting to seize and entrench themselves at an agricultural facility north of Pokrovsk. Ukrainian forces reportedly neutralized the group.

Ukrainian military officials believe Russia is attempting to reach the town of Hryshyne, located northwest of Pokrovsk, but repeated assaults on the city’s defenses have failed. Unable to break through, Russian forces are reportedly trying to bypass Pokrovsk entirely.
Despite these maneuvers, Ukrainian units say the enemy’s attempts to tie down defenses in nearby Myrnohrad remain unsuccessful.
Earlier, Ukrainian aircraft struck a key route used by Russian infantry to enter the embattled city of Pokrovsk, following the release of footage by Russian troops that revealed their movements.
