Units of the Main Directorate of Intelligence (HUR) of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, in coordination with the broader Armed Forces, have successfully neutralized a Russian offensive in the Zaporizhzhia sector.

According to an official statement released by the HUR press service on March 7, a comprehensive three-month defensive operation has stabilized the front line and effectively prevented Russian forces from advancing toward the regional capital.
The operation was spearheaded by the “Timur Special Unit,” which has been engaged in active combat on this axis for the past 90 days. Reports from the HUR indicate significant Russian losses during this period, including over 300 personnel killed or wounded. Additionally, Ukrainian forces confirmed the capture of 39 Russian servicemen.
A key factor in stalling the Russian advance has been the systematic disruption of enemy logistics. The HUR reported that Ukrainian scouts utilized precision drone strikes and artillery to target critical Russian supply routes, which significantly undermined the combat effectiveness of the opposing forces.

“By delivering precise strikes with drones and artillery, military intelligence consistently limits the logistical capabilities of the Muscovites — due to a lack of supplies, the occupiers are increasingly refusing to carry out assault operations in this direction,” the HUR stated.
The “Timur Special Unit” comprises a diverse range of specialized detachments and volunteer formations working in synchronization.
The HUR identified several participating groups, including specialized detachments such as Chimera, Aratta, Guardians of Darkness, Brotherhood, Stugna, and Paragon.
The operation also involved the Russian Volunteer Corps (RDK), the Siberian Battalion, and the Belarusian Volunteer Corps (BDK). Support and tactical execution were further provided by First Line, 1514, Raven Group, Art Division, and the 6th Special Action Unit of the HUR.

The HUR released documentation showing the use of high-end Ukrainian hardware, such as the “Bohdana” self-propelled howitzer, to maintain fire control over the sector and clear populated areas. These combined efforts allowed the Ukrainian forces to intercept the initiative in defensive battles and secure advantageous positions.
The Zaporizhzhia direction remains a critical segment of the southern front. The primary objective of the Russian command in this area was to push toward the city of Zaporizhzhia, a major industrial hub and administrative center.
Earlier, Ukraine’s military intelligence reported that its special “Prymary” unit conducted a series of precision strikes against Russian military assets in occupied Crimea throughout February 2026. The operations targeted several naval and aviation platforms, including the Project 22460 patrol ship Okhotnik, a Ka-27 helicopter, multiple support vessels, a Forpost UAV, and a radar station linked to an S-400 air defense system.
