Ukrainian high jumper and 2024 Olympic champion Yaroslava Mahuchikh has opened her 2025 season with a gold medal at the Udin Jump Development tournament in Udine, Italy, according to Suspilne Sport on February 6.

Mahuchikh began the competition as a strong contender in high jump, following an 2024 season, during which she set a world record of 2.10 meters, won her first Olympic gold, claimed the European Championship title, and retained her Diamond League champion status.

In Udine, she competed against notable athletes, including Maria Vukovic, the 2021 European silver medalist, and Karmen Bruus, the 2022 U20 world champion. Despite the tough competition, Mahuchikh secured first place once again.

This victory marks the third straight season in which Mahuchikh has opened the international calendar with a gold medal. The last time she did not win her season opener was in 2022, when she earned bronze at a competition in the Czech Republic.

Previously, it was reported that Yaroslava Mahuchikh has been named the World Athletics Female Athlete of the Year for 2024.
