Operators of Ukraine’s Unmanned Systems Forces destroyed a North Korean M1991 240 mm multiple-launch rocket system near Novopavlivka in Donetsk region, executing a precision UAV strike to detonate the launcher’s rockets, as was reported on June 27.
In the Novopavlivka direction of Donetsk region, operators of the 413th Battalion “Raid” detected an M1991 multiple-launch rocket system of North Korean manufacture concealed among Russian lines and engaged it with a strike UAV.
The UAV’s missile impacted one of the rockets on the launcher, which detonated, piercing the crew cabin and triggering a chain reaction that destroyed the vehicle without inflicting Ukrainian casualties.
The M1991 is North Korea’s adaptation of the Soviet-era Uragan, featuring 22 launch tubes in a three-row configuration and capable of firing unguided, spin-stabilized 240 mm rockets with ranges between 40 and 60 km.
Earlier, Kyrylo Budanov revealed in an interview that North Korea had supplied Russia with 120 long-range systems—including D-74 howitzers, Type 63 MLRS, BM-24 240 mm launchers and Koksan 170 mm SPGs—alongside millions of artillery shells to sustain front-line operations.
