On May 6, the Ukrainian Air Force shared a photo of an F-16 fighter jet that had completed a combat mission, highlighting its successful operation during ongoing defense efforts—the jet had destroyed five drones during the overnight Russian attack.

That mission took place on the night of May 6, when Ukrainian Air Force pilots responded to a large-scale Russian aerial strike involving 136 strike drones and imitation UAVs aimed at Ukrainian positions.

“Morning of May 6, 2025. Shahed hunters are returning home… Under the wings of this F-16, there is only one missile left. That means five AIM-9s hit their targets!” the Air Force press service stated.

The Ukrainian military command expressed gratitude to the pilots for their effective work, which helped save countless lives.

Previously, it was reported that Ukraine and Czechia are working to establish a joint F-16 pilot training facility outside Ukraine, according to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
