Ukrainian Battalion Use Drone to Deliver E-Bike in Rare Frontline Rescue, Video

The “Syla Svobody” (Force of Freedom) battalion of Ukraine’s National Guard “Rubizh” brigade recently completed a unique and challenging operation: using a heavy drone to deliver an electric bike to a wounded soldier trapped behind enemy lines.
The battalion released a video of the special operation on their YouTube channel on July 30.
“This video is about strength of spirit, brotherhood, and belief that saves lives,” the Syla Svobody battalion said.
According to the battalion, one of their positions was surrounded during a Russian assault that resulted in the loss of three soldiers.
The only defender left was a servicemember known by the callsign “Tankist.” He reported that Russian forces used poisonous gas during the attack. Despite being injured, Tankist held the position alone.
With the nearest friendly troops about 1.5 kilometers away, Tankist could not evacuate on foot. For several days, allied drones monitored and supported him, and commanders confirmed he had managed to eliminate multiple enemy fighters during that time.

To evacuate him, the battalion devised an unprecedented plan: deliver an electric bike directly to his position by drone. The first attempt failed when the drone was shot down. The second drone was unable to carry the load. Only on the third try did the heavy drone successfully deliver the bike.
Tankist then set out toward friendly lines but triggered a landmine about 400 meters from safety. He survived with no serious injuries and was quickly evacuated by infantry forces.
Later, a second electric bike was delivered by drone, allowing Tankist to reach a secure area on his own.
