Ukrainian Counteroffensive Hits Back in Donetsk, Retakes Ground From Russian Forces

Ukrainian forces conducted successful counterattacks in Donetsk region, regaining control over the villages of Mykhailivka, Velykyi Hai, and Volodymyrivka, according to Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi.
Syrskyi reported that Ukrainian troops carried out operations on the Pokrovsk front, clearing the settlements of Russian forces. During his visit to the area, he inspected command posts, heard reports from unit commanders, and presented awards to service members.
“The situation is difficult, as the enemy has concentrated its main efforts on this sector of the front. However, the defense is being maintained. Additional support with ammunition, drones, and electronic warfare systems has been provided,” Syrskyi said.

While Syrskyi did not disclose which units directly conducted the counterattacks, he noted that he met with personnel from the 25th Air Assault Brigade, the 68th Jaeger Brigade, and the 32nd and 155th Mechanized Brigades.
The Ukrainian Navy confirmed that fighters of the 1st Marine Battalion of the 37th Marine Brigade, together with other elements of the unit and the 214th Separate Assault Battalion OPFOR, participated in the earlier liberation of Zelenyi Hai.
Alongside these advances, Ukraine’s 3rd Army Corps reported that its forces regained full control over Novomykhailivka in Donetsk region. The corps stated the assault was carried out unexpectedly for Russian troops, who lost about one company of personnel and were forced to redeploy reserves.
Earlier, Ukrainian paratroopers from the 79th Air Assault Brigade liberated the village of Zolotyi Kolodiaz in Donetsk region, forcing Russian troops to retreat. The operation was part of broader defensive actions near Dobropillia and followed reports by the Azov Corps on the clearing of six settlements in the area.
