Ukrainian drone operators from the 414th Separate regiment have eliminated a rare Russian self-propelled artillery system, the 120-mm 2S23 “Nona-SVK,” in the Donetsk region, reported Ukrainian media Militarny, citing video footage shared by regiment commander Robert Brovdi, also known by his call sign “Madyar” on November 14.

The destruction of the “Nona-SVK” was confirmed through the video revealing the vehicle being struck by multiple FPV drones in a wooded area along a field road.

According to The Military Balance 2024, Russia has only 36 such systems in use.

The artillery system was completely burned out and destroyed, as the FPV drones with cumulative charges burned out the interior of the 2S23, according to Brovdi. The operation was recorded by a Ukrainian reconnaissance drone observing the engagement.

The popular Telegram channel “War in Ukraine. Equipment Losses” specified that this strike occurred in the Pokrovsky District of Donetsk.

The 2S23 “Nona-SVK” is a unique 120-mm self-propelled mortar-artillery installation mounted on a Russian BTR-80 APC chassis.

Designed for a wide range of combat roles, the system’s 120-mm rifled mortar is effective against infantry, artillery, and mortar units, rocket installations, armored targets, and command posts. With its capability for direct and indirect fire, it can engage targets with both mortar shells and 120-mm artillery rounds.

Earlier, The 79th Air Assault Brigade reported destroying a dozen Russian vehicles and a rare “Terminator” tank support combat vehicle in the Kurakhove direction, Donetsk region.
