Ukrainian Drones Obliterate $1.7M Russian Msta-S Howitzer in Precision Strike, Video

Ukrainian Armed Forces released footage of a successful nighttime drone strike that destroyed a Russian 2S19 Msta-S self-propelled howitzer, a high-value artillery system worth an estimated $1.7 million, “Wings of Omega” Special Drone Unit reported on July 15.
The strike took place while the howitzer was exposed in open terrain. “Wings of Omega”, part of Ukraine’s National Guard, released a video showing a direct hit on the Russian 152mm-caliber howitzer, resulting in its destruction.
Знищена ще одна російська самохідна артилерійська установка "Мста-С". Беручи до уваги непоправні втрати росіян у бронетехніці та САУ – це чудова здобич для наших спецпризначенців із ЦСП "Омега".

The Msta-S is designed to target both exposed and entrenched enemy personnel, equipment, and fortifications. It is capable of firing up to 24 kilometers using high-explosive fragmentation rounds, with a practical firing rate of 7–8 rounds per minute.
This particular system was originally developed by Russia in the late 1980s to replace the older 2S3 Akatsiya howitzer.
Built with a chassis similar to the T-72 and T-80 tanks, the Msta-S features a 780-horsepower diesel engine, advanced autoloading systems, and digital fire controls. It can also fire guided munitions such as the laser-targeted Krasnopol shells.

At the time of Russia’s full-scale invasion, the Ukrainian Armed Forces possessed around 40 units of this same artillery platform, reflecting its continued relevance in large-scale artillery battles.
Earlier, Ukrainian Special Operations Forces destroyed a rare Russian remote mining system, known as “Zemledelie,” using FPV drones.
